She regularly performs for charities and churches as well. Phoenix has started teaching piano to younger kids and she enjoys it very much. In addition to the piano, she also plays the oboe, at school and in the TCYO (Toronto Cultural Youth Orchestra). Phoenix is now a grade ten student attending Newmarket High School and in her spare time, she enjoys playing badminton, composing and spending time with friends. In the future, Phoenix wishes of becoming a dentist while continuing music on the side.
Ivan Yeung is currently 18 years old. Although he started to learn a bit of piano at the age of 4, he didn’t start taking it seriously until he was 11. Since then, his piano teacher Mrs. Aster Lai has inspired him tremendously in his interest in music. Ivan has advanced through the RCM Grades at a fast pace, and won numerous competitions. He has placed first in music competitions and festivals such as the Scarborough Music Festival, Kiwanis Music Festival, Toronto Music Competition, Richmond Hill Music Festival, and Yip’s Music Festival. In the 2006 Scarborough Music Festival, Ivan won a trophy for achieving the highest score of all competitors that have competed in all classes of Bach. He has also placed 3rd in the 2007 Canadian Music Competition for the category of 14 years and under, and also placed 4th in the 2009 Canadian Music Competition for the category of 18 years and under. During the year of 2008, he was fortunate enough to be invited to the Vienna School of the Performing Arts where he performed a solo recital. Within these two years, Ivan was also asked to perform at the 2009 and 2010 Officials Gathering at the Heintzman House as a solo pianist, performing in front of many important officials of the town such as the Mayor of Markham, Frank Scarpitti. He also currently serves as the sole player for the bassoon in the Toronto Canadian Youth Orchestra. Most recently, he has been accepted into the University of Toronto for Music (Performance). Other than music, Ivan enjoys reading books and playing sports such as table tennis and badminton.
